Mackenzie, Sir Alexander
(¿1755?, Stornoway, Lewis and Harris, islas Hébridas exteriores, Escocia–11 mar. 1820, cerca de Pitlochry, Perth).

Explorador canadiense nacido en Escocia. De joven Inmigró a Canadá y en 1779 se incorporó a una firma que comerciaba en pieles. En 1788 instaló un puesto comercial, Fort Chipewyan, en el lago Athabasca. Desde allí organizó una expedición (1789) que siguió el curso del río Mackenzie desde el lago Great Slave hasta el océano Ártico. En 1793 salió de Fort Chipewyan, cruzó las montañas Rocosas y llegó a la costa del Pacífico, con lo que se convirtió en el primer europeo que realizó un cruce transcontinental más allá del norte de México.
